I grew up in the parish of St. John, Barbados - a beautiful, unspoilt country parish. My parents were public servants, so we had the unique experience of being literally "at the centre of parish life", and the concept "love is service" was inculcated in us from an early age.... I always wanted to be an artist or architect, but growing up in a conservative society I settled for medicine and have had a fantastic career - 48 years from 18 to 66! Now I'm not exactly retired but re-treaded, and re-branded as an architectural historian and heritage consultant, two areas that have enthralled me since coming home in 1977. My other passions, apart from my wife and family, are painting, writing, gardening, public speaking and dogs! Some of this comes across in the interview published in the Sunday Advocate last month, which is included in this blog.
The main features of this website are the books currently in print, designed to promote the heritage of Barbados, books to come, and my Sunday columns, on things that matter, and hoping to "make a difference!"
